Hugo

Hugo is a fast, flexible and robust static website generator written in Go. Static websites built with Hugo are extremely fast and very secure.

Hugo sites can be hosted anywhere, including Heroku, GoDaddy, DreamHost, GitHub Pages, GitLab, Bitbucket, Surge, Aerobatic, Google Cloud Storage, Amazon S3, Dropbox and CloudFront, and work well with CDNs. Hugo sites run without dependencies on expensive runtimes like Ruby, Python or PHP and without dependencies on any databases.

Technically there is nothing stopping you from using HTML and also Javascript in the editor, but to avoid error-prone coding you have shortcodes, which is predefined scripts that are easy to include with a simple syntax like this {{% name parameters%}} (mustache style templating syntax).

A typical website of moderate size can be rendered in a fraction of a second. The latest release Hugo 0.17 is twice as fast as Hugo 0.16 and takes less than 1 millisecond for each rendered content.

Hugo is made to be flexible. Define your own content types and indexes. Build your own templates, shortcodes and more. It is written to work well with any kind of website.

Hugo now has multilingual support and you can use multiple languages side-by-side with full support for translation and i18n.

Hugo consists of a single binary file which is simple to install and is completely cross-platform and runs on Linux, Mac, Windows and FreeBSD. Hugo can also be compiled from source on any operating system that has support for the Go compiler tool chain.
